Is your child breaking your heart?

For almost 40 years God has called New Horizons Youth Ministries to help struggling teens and their families. Along the way we have gained national recognition for our Christ-centered residential programs for oppositional youth. We are experts in assisting parents with their high-potential under achieving youth. Our mandate is to support Christian families through:

  • Counseling by phone and email, or face to face
  • Parent support groups
  • Training events
  • Therapeutic boarding schools and programs
  • Summer wilderness and cross-cultural experiences

Our Vision for Parents

“Train up a child (and his parents) in the way he should go,” is what New Horizons is all about. We do this through placement of the teen in one of our therapeutic boarding school programs while training and counseling the parents. We teach parents to create a home that will better support a difficult teen and prevent new ones from emerging. Our vision is to not only work with the teen but to train parents in:

  • Biblical principles and practical parenting
  • Being intentional instead of reactionary
  • Fostering intimacy and unity within the family
  • Modeling mutual submission and leadership

Our Objective

Character can be defined as knowing what to do, and doing it. Building character involves building redemptive relationships, in the way God demonstrated his own love for us. We can only learn this in a setting as unified and intimate as a strong family. At New Horizons we strive to create a context of healthy relationships that allows a young person to practice living with character and choose to continue to do so at home. We build character with:

  • Structure that supports a positive self image and contribution to others
  • Group living that teaches teamwork, conflict resolution, and leadership
  • Physical activity and fitness
  • Meaningful work experiences to build skills, confidence, and work ethic
  • Worship and missionary type service contributions
  • Defining parent and staff roles to aid in learning about relationships
  • Discipline that teaches self-discipline and character

Our Motto:

“Character Built Today Brings Hope for Tomorrow”

There is hope for your family! Contact us today to find out more about how we can help your family members build character and learn to live in harmony again.
